TRON RUN/r is a game developed by Sanzaru Games and published by Disney Interactive. The game was released December 10, 2015 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows.

Official Summary[]

Return to the world of TRON with TRON RUN/r, a new lightning fast, action-adventure racing game with a twist! Hone your DISC and CYCLE skills on the 32 included levels, then challenge the grueling STREAM program that throws endless combinations of modes at you until you crash - how long can you survive? The one who outlasts all tops the leaderboard! New music from EDM godfather Giorgio Moroder and Raney Shockne, and remixes by Autechre, Bibio, Patten, Joywave and others power you through this dazzling TRON Universe. Just when you think you've mastered it all, you'll discover there's more here than meets the eye...

Game Modes[]

The main game includes three gameplay modes, with a fourth mode that is accessible through the Outlands DLC. In DISC, CYCLE, and OUTLANDS, the player is permitted to make three mistakes (four if they equip the Firewaller byte companion) before they are derezzed. The player's overall score is determined by both their performance and the number of bits they've collected. These bits can be used to purchase power-ups and companions, which makes it easier to complete levels and achieve higher scores.

DISC[]

In DISC, the player’s program must run through Tron City in order to reach a portal. In order to do this, they must successfully avoid walls of data, jump/glide over gaps, run on walls, and grind on rails as they race forward without stopping. Additionally, the program must use their identity disc to derez enemies such as gridbugs, sentries, grenade-throwing elite sentries, and tanks.

CYCLE[]

In CYCLE, the player races through a region known as "Whiteout" on a light cycle as they try to reach a portal in specified time. In order to reach the end of level in this amount of time, the player must maneuver through as many “Disruptor Hoops” as possible to increase their time while jumping off of ramps, avoiding barriers, drifting through turns, and derezzing enemy light cycles.

STREAM[]

In STREAM, the player’s program must run through a randomly generated course made up of DISC and CYCLE elements. Unlike the other two game modes, STREAM isn’t made up of levels with defined endings, but ratter it is infinite and only concludes when the player is derezzed. Power-ups are not accessible in STREAM (companions are, however), and the player is instead given the option to choose what music track they want to play to.

OUTLANDS[]

OUTLANDS is a made up of levels with both DISC and CYCLE components that are set in the Outlands. These levels are significantly more challenging than the original DISC and CYCLE levels. This game mode was included in the Outlands DLC pack.

Customization[]

TRON RUN/r does not have a definitive main character, but rather the player is allowed to choose to play as existing characters from TRON, TRON: Legacy, and TRON: Uprising (as well as the new "Vector Suit"). Additionally, the player can choose for their light cycle to resemble those previously seen in the TRON films, TRON: Uprising, and TRON: Evolution, as well as three new designs. The player is provided with nine different possible circuitry colors for their program and light cycle. The majority of these character and light cycle skins are available for separate purchase from the main game in DLC packs.
