Reginald VelJohnson is an American actor of film, stage and television, who provides the voice for the character of Able in TRON: Uprising.
Biography[]
VelJohnson was born in Queens, New York, the son of Eve, a nurse, and Reginald Johnson, Sr., a hospital attendant. His father left the family when VelJohnson was thirteen years old and his mother subsequently married John Reilly. VelJohnson obtained a Bachelor of Arts from New York University.
He describes himself as an actor who plays "fathers and cops," and has featured in movies, dramas, sitcoms, procedurals, commercials, video games, and off-Broadway theater. Since the end of Family Matters, besides making a few guest appearances on TV shows, VelJohnson has done mostly theater work. Interviewed about his character in TRON: Uprising, he described Able as a "reasonable man, a fair man, but a suspicious old guy," who cares about his workers, watches out for Beck, and knows more about Tron than he lets on.
