History[]
Identity[]

Kobol was a gang leader in Purgos, operating out of a pawn shop. He not only dealt in stolen identity discs, but strung along any programs that would come asking about their missing dics, waiting until they became strays so he could turn them in to Clu's forces for repurposing.
He came into possession of Beck's disc when it was sold to him by Galt. When Tron, disguised, came to Purgos with Beck in search of the disc, Kobol agreed to meet them nearby after he inquired about the disc elsewhere. As Tron and Beck left the shop, they were ambushed by a masked Kobol and his gang in one of the streets of the city, though were saved by the arrival of Lux. When Galt was cornered by the trio, Kobol derezzed him by stabbing him through the chest with his identity disc, which resulted in a Light Cycle chase from Beck, Lux, and Tron. After escaping on his light cycle, Kobol met up with Lux, who had been manipulating the memory-impaired Beck, and after seeing an unconscious Tron on the floor, he repeated what he had said to Tron earlier while laughing.

Kobol prepared to turn Beck over to General Tesler while Lux tried to remove Tron's helmet, he told her not to however due to it not being of concern. Kobol falsely informed Beck that he was being sent home, though Tron tried his best to warn Beck that he was being turned handed to Tesler. Tron's warning annoyed Kobol enough to where he tried to derezz him, but Lux stopped him in order to retain Beck's trust. Offended by her questioning his plan, he harmed Lux before leaving with Beck to the beacon.

Death
While waiting for the recognizer that would take Beck away, Tron started dueling with Kobol. Tron gained the upper hand, but a now amnesiac Beck turned on Tron and held him at bay with Kobol's staff. Kobol demanded Beck to derez him, but Beck's memories resurfaced when Tron unmasked himself and reminded him of their friendship, to which Kobol attacked him but was unable to overpower him. Trying to capture him at any cost, Kobol handcuffed himself to Beck, intending to trap him there until the recognizer landed, but was struck and derezzed by Lux's disc before the craft could land.
General information[]
Physical appearance[]
Kobol is an elderly program with white hair and circuitry.
Skills and abilities[]
Kobol's skills with weaponry such as his identity and staff are noteworthy. He was able to battle and hold his own against Tron, the legendary hero of the Grid, for quite some time and was later able to overpower the former System Monitor, most likely due to the fact that the latter was already severely weakened. He's also able to fight with two identity discs.
Trivia[]
- His name is derived from the programming language, COBOL, which is an English-like programming language, and one of the oldest.
- Kobol's pixels, light cycle, light wall and disc trail are scarlet, matching the secondary color of his circuitry. This was a feature of various programs in the early episodes of TRON: Uprising.
- Kobol, like other programs, can partially deactivate his circuits. Normally he only chooses to wear the right half of them activated. He had his full lights on when he ambushed Beck and Tron together with his gang, and was wearing a mask.
