Horii is a character mentioned in TRON: Identity and appearing in TRON: Catalyst. Formerly a guard at Core, he assisted Exo along her journey after he was imprisoned.

History[]

Background[]

Horii was a cell guard at Core, who was assigned to guard Cass' cell. Taking pity on the young program, he gave them a uniform out of kindness. Sometime after, a break-in at the Repository occurred. When Query, a Disciple of Tron and detective, defragmented Cass' disc (depending on the player's choice), they began to remember Horii, and informed Query about him.[1]

TRON: Catalyst[]

Horii was dismissed from Core after showing compassion toward Cass, a prisoner under his watch, by giving them an old set of his armor to keep them warm. He becomes an ally of a program named Exo, a fellow prisoner in the Games, to whom he offers advice on how to survive. Later, he gives her his "light pull" ability.[2]

General information[]

Personality and traits[]

Horii is shown to be thoughtful and compassionate, as he is described by Cass as being "kinder than he needed to be" for giving them a uniform to wear.[1] Core believed this to be a weakness, labeling it as "overly sympathetic illogic."[2]

Skills and abilities[]

As a former guard at Core, Horii is a formidable fighter in the Games, whose skills are enough to impress Tacitus. He is able to survive multiple rounds in the Induction chamber, while Exo is derezzed from only entering it once. Core described his code as "exceptional." Horii possesses a "light pull" ability, which allows him to draw enemies toward himself. He later grants this ability to Exo during the latter part of Catalyst.[2]

Memory - The Silhouette[]

The cell was cold, the light within it dull, purple. Cass sat at its centre, cuffed and on their knees.

No idea how long they'd been there, no knowledge of where 'there' even was.

The door in front of Cass opened. A figure entered, tall, silhouetted by the light behind them.

"You alright, kid?"

Light glistened against the rim of the white armor of the figure, gold details glowing. "You look cold."

Cass nodded, a whisper escaping.

"Yes."

"Alright. I can help with that."

The silhouette bent down to a knee, placing garments in front of Cass.

"Don't tell anyone where you got these. I'm not meant to fraternise. You're dangerous." Cass nodded, reaching forward with their cuffed hands, feeling for the fabric of the guard uniform dropped between them. The silhouette stepped back.

"Be quiet, be safe. They can't keep you here forever."

And with that, the silhouette left, the door slammed shut. Dim purple light again.
