The Arq Grid,[1] sometimes referred to as the New Grid[2] or simply The Grid,[3] is an Arq server created by Kevin Flynn to protect the ISOs from Clu 2. After its creation, however, this Grid was left alone to evolve and develop while the Users became a distant memory.[4]
History[]
The Arq server was specifically built for ISOs. Its creator, Kevin Flynn, promised to return to this system. Flynn did not return to this server however, and the system was left to evolve without any User intervention.[5] Centuries eventually passed as the ISOs awaited Flynn's return, and what was originally meant to be a temporary backup system, eventually developed into its very own society,[6] the ISOs within splitting into several groups including the Core and the Automata.[3] The building standing center within the ISO civilization was The Repository. At some point in time, a mysterious event known as the Adjunct War ravaged the Arq Grid and had affected some of its inhabitants, such as Grish.[3] Proxy, a rebel program who participated in said war, started to live outside the established hierarchy in this system.[7]
In 2023,[8] the Repository was suddenly broken into. Query, a Disciple of Tron, was summoned by Prinz to investigate its mystery. When defragmenting Cass' Identity Disc, the two discovered the Grid was soon to end.[3]
